The English Department at Maynooth University is hosting a talk next Wednesday March 25, 2015 by Professor Thomas Docherty of Warwick University, on the theme of 'On free speech and academic freedom: responsibilities and complicities'.
The talk takes place at 4pm in Theatre JHL6 in the John Hume Building, on the North ('new') Campus of Maynooth. Everyone is welcome and I attach a poster here.
You'll know that Thomas Docherty has been writing about the rise of the corporate-bureaucratic university for some time - in books such as Aesthetic Democracy, The English Question, For the University, and most recently Universities at War. His talk promises to address questions of interest to anyone working in higher education. I do hope you might be able to disseminate information on this event to the member list.
