To mark International Women’s Day a rally is being held No Woman Left Behind, organised by the National Women’s Council of Ireland, at 1200 on Saturday 5 March 2022 outside the Dail (Kildare Street entrance).
The IFUT Executive has agreed that IFUT will participate in this rally and are urging all members in a position to do so to support this event.
The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) is fully supporting the event and has urged affiliates to participate as fully as possible.
IFUT are arranging an IFUT banner for the rally and would encourage our members to meet outside the IFUT Head Office (11 Merrion Square, Dublin 2) prior to the rally so we may attend as a body. The exact details for members attending will issue closer to the date.
The key demands of the rally are as follows:
- A zero-tolerance culture to end men’s violence against women.
- Women’s representation in all our diversity in all spaces where decisions are made affecting women’s lives.
- Access to quality public service including childcare, housing, and a decent income on which we all can live.
- A healthcare system that has women at its centre.
