Members of the Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT) have cast their Vote in favour of adopting the latest Public Sector Pay Proposal by a margin of 97% voting to accept the proposals. The ballot, active from February 16th until noon on March 21st, reflects a significant engagement from the IFUT membership, with turnout increased significantly on previous public sector ballots.
General Secretary Frank Jones thanked the members for their active participation and the clear directive provided through the Vote."The strong turnout and decisive result underscore our collective commitment to advancing the interests of our members within the higher education sector," he stated. However, Frank also highlighted that, despite the affirmative Vote, members have emphatically voiced concerns regarding the sustainability of workloads and precarious employment conditions, which remain extant and pervasive within the higher education sector and must be tackled.

IFUT will attend a meeting of the Public Services Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) on Monday, March 25th. Based on the outcome of their respective Ballots, each Union will collectively decide whether to accept or reject the proposal. Voting at that meeting will be weighted to reflect the number of public servants each Union represents
